Since many of the most significant determinants of the global burden of disease are nutrition-related, promoting healthy diets is crucial for public health worldwide. Furthermore, changes in dietary habits can contribute to environmental protection. The new Nordic diet, which aims to improve health, is one such example. In recent years, interest in the potential health benefits of a healthy Nordic diet has increased. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally, and the Nordic diet can be beneficial in preventing cardiovascular diseases and reducing mortality. Health policies that create favorable environments to make healthy choices affordable and accessible are necessary to motivate people to adopt and maintain healthy behaviors. The Nordic diet, a local dietary model, and the newly developed Nordic diet aim to achieve these effects. However, further studies are needed to prove the effectiveness of the Nordic diet in reducing cardiovascular risk.
