Premenstrüel Sendrom, üreme çağındaki kadınları etkileyen psikiyatrik, fizyolojik ve somatik semptomlarla karakterize bir bozukluktur. PMS’nin etiyolojisi belirsizliğini koruduğu için evrensel, kabul görmüş bir tedavi yöntemi bulunmamaktadır. Tedavide temel amaç semptomların hafifletilmesidir. Bilişsel Davranışcı Terapi (BDT), akupunktur, düzenli egzersiz, sağlıklı beslenme ve mineral takviyeleri tamamlayıcı tedavi yöntemleri arasında yer alır. Magnezyum, insan vücudunda birçok görevi olan, hastalıkların önlenmesi ve tedavisinde yer alan önemli bir mineraldir. Anksiyete, depresyon, sinirlilik, uykusuzluk, baş ağrısı, baş dönmesi, titreme ve psikotik davranış dahil olmak üzere çeşitli psikiyatrik bozukluklar Mg eksikliği ile ilişkilendirilir. Premenstrüel Sendrom’un semptomlarının hafifletilmesinde Magnezyum etkili bir ajan olabilir. Bu çalışmada premenstrüel sendrom ve magnezyum ilişkisi değerlendirilecektir.
